State-of-the-art,  LEED® Platinum, Mixed-Use Office and Retail building in the heart of Downtown Calgary. 37-storey, 990,000 sq. ft., five levels of underground parking, and two levels of retail.

Electrically, Calgary City Center uses occupancy sensor technology to conserve power, destination dispatch elevators, and a digital metering system to maximize efficiency.

  • Energy-efficient lighting controls reduce power usage on all floors, the parkade, and the stairwells.

  • The building is equipped with modern gym and conference facilities with integrated audiovisual and control systems.

  • The ceilings are fully coordinated to allow prospective tenants to have locations for communication trays which can be installed without interrupting the lighting requirements. This communication infrastructure also allows tenants to select their provider of choice and route any utility system to their area.

  • The state-of-the-art centralized communication system reduces the infrastructure within the building. The convergence of building management and control systems with a central communications infrastructure results in an intelligent building, which is effective in increasing building performance.

As the base building engineers on the original building, M+B offers prospective tenants ease of use, highly functional areas allocated for backup generation, and power distribution throughout each floor plate. The ceilings are fully coordinated to allow future tenants to have locations for communication trays that can be installed without interrupting the lighting requirements. This communication infrastructure will enable tenants to select their provider and route any utility system to their area.

M+B provided a full electrical design for the building, including all power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm, security, and communication systems. M+B was also responsible for all construction administration duties, including site reviews, review of shop drawings, attendance at site meetings, fire alarm verification, and commissioning duties.
